हमारे बारे में

1947 में मृदा सर्वेक्षण को राष्ट्रीय प्राथमिकता के रूप में मान्यता दिए जाने के बाद, देश में मिट्टी की प्रकृति, सीमा और वितरण के बारे में जानकारी को अपनाने, सत्यापित और प्रसारित करने के लिए एक केंद्रीकृत सूचना भंडार बनाने की आवश्यकता महसूस की गई। नतीजतन, सरकार ने 1956 में अखिल भारतीय मृदा सर्वेक्षण योजना शुरू की, जिसका 1959 में अखिल भारतीय मृदा और भूमि उपयोग सर्वेक्षण संगठन (एआईएस एंड एलयूएस) के रूप में विस्तार हुआ...... 1969 में एआईएस एंड एलयूएस को दो भागों में विभाजित कर दिया गया, जिनमें से एक भारतीय कृषि अनुसंधान परिषद (ICAR) के अधीन था। बाद में 1973 में राष्ट्रपति की अधिसूचना के माध्यम से इसे एक निदेशालय के रूप में पुनर्गठित किया गया। निदेशालय को 1976 में एक ब्यूरो का दर्जा दिया गया। और इसे नागपुर, महाराष्ट्र में मुख्यालय सहित राष्ट्रीय मृदा सर्वेक्षण और भूमि उपयोग योजना ब्यूरो (एनबीएसएस और एलयूपी) का नाम दिया गया था। यह आईसीएआर के चौदह प्राकृतिक संसाधन प्रबंधन (एनआरएम) संस्थानों में से एक है, जिसे मुख्य रूप से मृदा सर्वेक्षण, रिमोट सेंसिंग अनुप्रयोगों, भूमि मूल्यांकन और भूमि उपयोग योजना में आरडी एंड टी गतिविधियों का संचालन करने का काम सौंपा गया है।

In 1969, the AIS&LUS was bifurcated into two wings, one being under the Indian Council of Agricultural Research(ICAR). It was later in 1973 reconstituted as a Directorate through a Presidential Notification. The Directorate was accorded the status of a Bureau in 1976 and was named as National Bureau of Soil Survey and Land Use Planning (NBSS&LUP) with its Hqrs. at Nagpur, Maharashtra. It is one of the fourteen Natural Resource Management (NRM) institutes of the ICAR entrusted to conduct RD&T activities mainly in soil survey, remote sensing applications, land evaluation and land use planning.
